Team Bios
Frank J. Campagna – CEO, Principal Investigator
Project Manager, developer and respected entrepreneur in the digital book printing and publishing industry. Campagna is recognized in his industry for building lasting and successful business models by identifying and focusing attention on specific customer needs. He has uniquely bundled products and services for buyers within the vertical markets by integrating technology into all his business processes. He was publisher of Print Buyer Today, the nations only newspaper to educate print-buyer subscribers in the latest available print services, software and technology. He invented and packaged “The Printmate” a convenient desktop device containing over fifty tools useful for designing printed materials, thousand were sold to franchise shops and International Paper Company. He directed his company into the digital book printing market and led the development of what may have been the first web-based instant book estimating, manuscript file upload/archival and retrieval system. His course of study in Computer Science and Business Management is with State University of New York.
Ryan Bair – Software Development Lead
Ryan is a software development lead and system administrator working for Tri-State Associated Services. At TSAS he has designed and maintained the server infrastructure and database for ClassroomAuthors®, and he provides guidance and support for the design of all web applications. He has worked for BPC, Inc., a technology solutions provider where he designed and implemented network and server solutions for many small and mid-size businesses. As systems administrator at Pump Audio, the music division of Getty Images, he administered Windows and Linux servers, assisted with backend integration following the acquisition by Getty Images, implemented internal management systems and front end tools, maintained and extended several databases, performed business intelligence operations, and coordinated with outside software development firms on several projects.
Chris Champignon – Software Engineer/Programmer
Chris Champignon is a software engineer currently working for ClassroomAuthors®. He graduated with an Information Technology degree from Marist College. His professional experiences and education have afforded him advanced programming skills including web based application development, and the development of data driven support systems. Previous employment includes software developer at Hess Corporation on their Global Network Security team. He also worked as a team leader and lead programmer on a project to modernize key portions of the websites for Gannett Company Inc. a large publishing firm.
William Hicks – Interactive Web Programmer/Designer
William Hicks has been an employee of Tri-State Associated Services, Inc for the past 12 years. His background includes over 25 years programming experience in C, C++, Perl, Php, Flash, Actionscript, Javascript, assembler and other computer languages. His background also includes over 13 years experience in graphic design, html coding, website design and web server support.
Erick Gordon – Research and Evaluation Consultant
Erick Gordon is the founding director of the Student Press Initiative at Teachers College, Columbia University where he is also a fulltime instructor in the Teaching of English Masters Program. His research interests include the professional education of teachers and the effects of audience on students’ composing processes. He is a regular contributor to English Journal, the largest English language publication for secondary English teachers, and consults for the National Writing Project, the Center for the Professional Education of Teachers, and the National Academy for Excellence in Teaching. He has worked on student press literacy projects for over fifteen years, and serves as advisor to a host of educational organizations that work to better public education in America.
Alan G. Labouseur – Systems Architect/Systems Analyst
Currently on the full-time faculty at Marist College and adjunct faculty at Vassar, Alan has spent the past 20 years as an independent technology consultant, teaching for 14 of those years as well. Alan has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science. In addition to his academic pursuits, Alan has practical experience in a wide variety of industries with clients from Publishing (Scholastic, Simon&Schuster), Education (New York Institute of Finance, NYU), Risk Management (PriceWaterhouse Coopers, A&A), Showbiz (Dick Clark Corporate Productions, Ray Bloch Productions) and many others. In the public sector he’s consulted for the New York State Office of Mental Health and the Westchester County Department of Child Welfare. Alan continues to consult on large- and small-scale projects in the areas of Database Systems, Browser-based Applications, Mobile Solutions, and Software Development.
Grace Magley – Program Research Coordinator
Grace Magley is the Director of Technology for the Millis, Massachusetts Public Schools System. Grace has successfully implemented numerous technology initiatives in an educational environment including online parent/student access to attendance and grades with Power School, a centralized help desk management and reporting system for high quality support and fast turn-around of trouble tickets, and the Moodle course management system as a online/blended learning environment in the High School and Middle School. Grace also manages the wireless network and supports the one-to-one laptop initiative in the Middle/High School. She has been instrumental in securing a number of Massachusetts Department of Education grants including Project MEET, Data Warehousing, and Technology Grants. Since 2004, Grace continues to chair the Millis Technology Planning Committee. She has a Masters in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.
